Intensity = a characteristic: usually asked h/ intensity it is on a scale 0-10 (0 = none, paint type, kind, aching, burning. Will do something about it very quickly: these nociceptors fire when they sense there is potential or actual tissue damage. Send signals to spinal cord and up to brain. Works to prevent tissue damage: circuitry = same for every. For mild pain - typically otc - ex tylenol: target signals where pain starts - targeting localizing pain. Stronger pain meds + anesth: reduce activity in pain sensing circuits.
