Get an infection = more chances of getting ibs with pre-morbid depression/anxiety: treatment = diet (changes internal environment), physical activity, pharmacological therapy loperamide (to prevent diarrhea), Look at probiotics, laxatives and antibiotics: psychosocial factors of ibs, 40-60% of ibs patients have a co-morbid psychiatric diagnosis: I. e. have to go to the restroom more = more irritable.
