What is health psychology: how illnesses affect mental health, ways to improve mental health- stress reduction. Health isn"t always the absence of illness but more focused on the idea of resilience. Bullying during puberty- can have an impact on social relationships in the future. Epigenetics; can impact the way that your genes are expressed: some people are just naturally resilient. Mental health and physical health are linked. How do things actually get under our skin . How is health psychology involved with social justice issues: socioeconomic status- some people have access to certain things more than others, food deserts: some communities that are cut off from accessing healthy or nutritious foods. Typically low ses areas- more people don"t have access to good grocery stores: influence of government. Social rejection: can be related to physical pain. Social status: subjective social status, we make comparisons, socioeconomic status: physical reality of where you are, lower ses: more exposure to traumatic events .
