A branch of developmental psychology: the child"s on psyche; the development of who he/she is as a human being. Observing their social behaviours similar to cognitive but doesn"t look at just cognitive change looks at whole change. Includes affective, cognitive, and social aspects of development: affective component: emotions. How child controls, understands their own emotions: cognitive: the understanding of how the child identifies themself, and coming to understand how relationships works (in the social world) Not a cognitive course but understanding how a child does something is based on cognitive components. Based on how one thinks is cognitive and inroder to understand the change must understand the underlying the cause: perceptual: the child can really develop a relationship with a significant other. What happens in an adults life tomorrow is not as effective as it is on a child"s life (unless something very impactful)
