Psychotherapy works the same as drug therapy and beter for depression & anxiety. Schizophrenia is the only disorder where drugs are necessary (biochemical disorder where there"s too much dopamine) Psychoanalyic psychotherapies: problems you have but don"t realize because there are subconscious, free associaion: say whatever comes to mind and will eventually say something that comes from subconscious, takes a long ime compared to drug therapy. Flooding or implosive: be taken into a room illed with spiders and not being out unil person realizes fear is irraional, looding is most commonly used for ocd and is quite efecive. Modeling: model behaviour: show how to do it and the consequences, extremely efecive. People will work hard for social approval which is the #1 posiive reinforcement. Realize you"re not the only person with the problem (social reinforcement) Gestalt therapy (sum of their parts) : mind and brain are separate. Neurons and cells iring in your head causing behaviour.
