Document Summary
Bloodiest century: now continues into the new millennium. Serotonin levels low associated with hyper responsiveness to aversive stimuli: much more likely to and feel attacked/hurt/insulted by someone else"s behavior: hypothalamus and amygdala are responsible for the fight or flight response. Studies shown that even holding a gun is sufficient to increase testosterone levels immediately; simple exposure will lead to this: males with wider faces have higher testosterone levels. In sports, if males have a wider face, they will get more penalties (biological/instinctual) Is aggression a response to frustration: we tend to aggress in situations where we have expectations and these expectations are not met. Is frustration the same as deprivation: relative deprivation, frustration definitely leads to aggression given the right circumstances. Influences on aggression: aversive incidents pain, heat, attacks, pain if you shock an animal, it will feel pain and attack anything around it (defensive aggressive behavior or attacking aggressive behavior) Frustration is psychological pain, just like this pain.
