Sensation detection of stimuli by the sensory receptors. Perception the interpretation of sensations in order to make them meaningful. Most infant testing methodologies are based on 3 assumptions: infants will attend/orient to stimuli they prefer, infants prefer to hear/see stimuli that they have heard/seen before (familiarization) presented stimulus.
