Document Summary
Lab question: what is the difference between an experiment and a. Proving changing this causes that controlled variable is the only thing affecting it but correlation, you don"t know about 50, 000 other variables affecting it. The main concept today is self esteem and correlation. Sorenson scale is used to indicate self esteem. The lower the score, the better your self esteem. How do you validate a new survey: give your new survey to everyone in sample. Get a score for everyone: send everyone to 10 hours of therapy with a qualified therapist. Get a score: calculate a correlation between the two ranging from -1 to +1. For sorenson, high score means high self esteem and low score means low self esteem. People who score high in survey should score low in the sorenson scale and vice versa. One way we use correlation is to validate surveys. Rather than going to a therapist, we do a scecond survey.
