Document Summary

Canada is a federation it means it has 2 levels of government (but by definition it can have 2 or more levels of government) We have a federal government located in ottawa, and 10 provincial government, and then we have 3 territorial government. However, the territorial governments are not constitutionally entrenched, they are set up with federal statues basically unlike the provinces, the federal government has full control over the territories. They do not have a large enough tax base to sustain their own form of government. Westminster parliamentary system in canada unless you live in calgary, you did not vote for. We vote for the party, not for the leader. Responsible government: the government must maintain the confidence of the house of commons in order to govern. We measure confidence by winning votes and majority rules. There is something unique about the 3 branches of government in canada. Executive and legislative branch are both fused together.
