World war ii was the deadliest war in human history with over 70 million dead. It"s organized and deliberate violence by political authority (so not just a deadly riot) It"s a more lethal form of conflict in which 1000 battle deaths = war. There exists mutual harm from both sides (so it"s not one-sided like a genocide). Inter-state (between states) vs. intra-state (within states eg. civil war) Limited (restricted to a specific time and space) vs. total (large-scale destruction and harm to civilians and major powers involved) Conventional (fought according to rules) vs. unconventional (eg. terrorism and guerilla warfare) Just war (acting in self-defense as a last resort) Ancient weapons include siege machines, greek fire , and medieval armor. There is a fifth revolution that is making its way which is cyber warfare.
