Machiavelli the prince: some would say that machiavelli was a realist, a lot of times when people say that he was a realist they say that he thinks that no matter what you should achieve your goals, regardless of what happens during the process, machiavelli doesn"t want power for powers sake, power is for certain objectives that he repeats again and again, all in the idea of forming a republic, republic rome is what machiavelli wants to resurrect, not the rome of the prince or of a solidary ruler, his objective is to use the one person who sits on the throne to get to the republic, he"s a republican in the sense that the best form of political order is run by form, where power is shared not consolidated in the hands of one ruler, he does say to lorenzo to the new prince, that he needs to seize the moment and that he has a golden opportunity here.
