Over the course of centuries, europe becomes less devoted to religion (the begin to question it) 15th century: the anatomy was more realistic, expressions of pain and wounds with blood, as well as the emotions of people around him witnessing his suffering, religion is remaining intact, but it was shifting. Julian of norwich (1342-1416): her revelations came to her when she was dying at age 30, she was taught to see the divine in all things, god loves it, therefore it exists. People were spending more money on the dead: people may have felt oppressed by their obligations to the dead. There were changing standards of living: a sumptuary law: rules about what you can do and wear based on your position in society, how people could and could not display their wealth, became increasingly more detailed over time. Like a reverse uniform code: explains what you can"t wear.
