Document Summary

Hydrology the science of water, its global circulaion, distribuion, and properies. Fluvial refers to river related processes. Insolaion and gravity are 2 driving forces of luvial systems: fluvial hydrology the study of river dynamics, fluvial geomorphology the study of landscapes inluenced by luvial erosion and deposiion, and the spaial paterns of rivers. Rivers and streams are a dominant agent of denudaion. Rivers move 22,000 million tones of sediments to the ocean annually: esimated that humans move 57,000 mt. Streams and rivers collect groundwater and runof from a speciic area known as a drainage basin or watershed. Larger streams and rivers are linked with larger basins. Boundary between drainage basins is called drainage divide. Dendron means tree: energy expanded by this system is eicient because the overall length of the branches is reduced. Is characterisic of dipping or folded topography. Such drainage exists in the nearly parallel mountain folds of the ridge and valley province in the eastern united states.
