Microfluidics- caliper technologies (agilent: once the scale is changed, the tension of water will keep it separated, capillary electrophoresis. Compounds will go from cathode to anode. Takes the molecules of two samples, hit it with energy and allow the samples to separate. Very sensitive: can find traces of container in a substance, ex: find traces of cup in coffee. Matching energy of a photon to a process. Any colour is visible because material absorbs the visible colours compliment. Certain substances can absorb x-rays while others don"t. The resonance conditions: the x-ray can rip out the electrons from the orbital.
