Document Summary
Chapter 17 (session 61: mineral resources and mining (i)) Cell phones have coltan = columbite and tantalite. War and mining soldiers are in control of mining. Artisanal or small scale mining killed wildlife, clearing of land, pollution to rivers. Perpetual resources (solar energy) never going anywhere. Nonrenewable(wasting or non-regenerative) resources as we use them we use them up. Renewable and replenishable are generated at short scale. Critical flow is renewable (nonrenewable bc of mismanagement) replenishing resource if. Recyclable resources (energy resources are not recyclable) Difficult to regulate bc you can"t build a fence around the ocean. Earth resources vs living resources living resources restock themselves through growth; renewable but can be mismanaged but if we are extracting them too much then stock is gonna be depleted. Once they get depleted at a certain level they"ll be gone. Replenishable is renewable resources like groundwater; building themselves back up again. Renewables are applied to living resources fish and trees; regenerating themselves.
