Document Summary
Air pollution and stratospheric ozone depletion part 1. Acidic deposition and its consequences: acid rain. Mostly nitrogen and oxygen while the rest are other gases. 2nd most variable = aerosols from variety of sources: very tiny particles solid or liquid articles vary a lot from wide variety of sources. Most pollutants are aerosols which vary in both time and space. Atmospheric aerosol profile: very big switch back in temperature tropopause to stratosphere, high at ground surface tropospheric aerosols. Come from anthropogenic activities, smoke from fire, fossil fuels, some natural sources as well: 20 km up in stratosphere most aerosol is from volcanic mixation. January 20th 2017: airplane trail is not same thing even though it looks same. Gases and louds condense and leave cloud looking air when a plane passes by: aerosols can enhance the natural formation of clouds. Outdoor air pollution affects climate and harms people and ecosystems.
