If you are forced into an identity it can cause you to rebel and be unhappy. If the exploration lead to misunderstanding can lead to role confusion via self-identification or being lost in the crowd. Identity if formed after you"ve looked at all the options and outcomes. Identity achievement have explored options and have come to make a commitment. Identity moratorium - looking at themselves, internal dialogue, who they will be. Exploring options but haven"t made a commitment: most common in high school.
