Document Summary
Communication with phones is a different type of communication. It can be used as a tool to communicate long distance. What is texting and how did it begin. Text messaging or short message service (sms) is a mechanism of delivery of short messages over the mobile networks. It is a store and forward way of transmitting messages to and from mobiles. The message (text only) from the sending mobile is stored in a central short message center which then forwards it to the destination mobile. This means that the recipient is not available; the short message is stored and can be sent later. Text messaging can be used in a passive aggressive way: ex. Getting a text and saying i didn"t get the message to avoid talking to the person. Because the encoding of 7-bits per character allows for 160 characters. Because teens needed a cheap way of communicating with each other.
