Amplitude height of one wave (measure of volume), and contain crests and troughs. Longitudinal waves: waves in air, travel in the direction of the medium. Noise cancelling headphones: the headphones produce waves (longitudinal) that are reciprocal to the waves in an external source to cancel it out.
