In pompeii there were temples and many worships to gods. Goddess minerva statue, dressed like normal roman woman. Gods names were interchangeable and had different forms/appearances. Gods painted on the walls inside homes. In rome, statues of gods were brought out in public and offered food. Every neighborhood would have shrines for their deities. Shrine in pompeii had mostly the same gods as the ones in rome. In pompeii no same home has the same gods painted on the walls. People choose which gods they want to worship out of the many gods there are. There is not enough time/too much effort needed to worship all gods. Most people in ancient world believed in many gods and worshipped more than one. Minucius felix, ridicules polytheism, presents a minority view. Writing to ridicule the many on the existence of many gods. Mission: to convert others to christianity, to explain christianity to a hostile audience. Ridicules how all the gods look different.
