Get two brands of antacids from your ta. Record all details: brand name, number of tablets, cost($), mass of tablet and other components. Grind one tablet with a mortar and pestle until it is a powder. Add 0. 2 kg of powder into each 125 ml erlenmeyer flasks (mass = +/- Transfer 0. 1 m hcl into the flasks via pipette and swirl. Make sure to record the concentration of the hcl soln. Transfer the flasks onto a hot plate for around 1 minute (gentle boil) while swirling it to remove co2. Remove flasks with caution and add 6 drops of bromophenol blue and swirl. Yellow: ph < 3. 0 blue: ph > 4. 6. If the solution becomes blue then keep adding hcl via pipette or graduated cylinder (additional: 10 ml) to the flask. Keep the previous step until a yellow solution is achieved. Record total volume of hcl added for each flask.
