Interaction between: cognitive information processing, central brain mechanisms, peripheral physiological processes. Sexual response and behaviour should not be confused with sexual development. Highly subjective: what an individual finds arousing is largely a reflection of their culture and individual experiences. Huge interaction of environment as well as physiology in sexual arousal. Cognitive: automatic, physiological responses to sexual images/stimulation that are not consciously mediated by the individual, controlled, something that the individual is conscious of.
