All human cultures seem to have a theory of belief surrounding the origins of humans anthro is way you look at the world, has their own perspective, universal principle is origin myth. Within all of culture humans have tried to investigate origin of our species, have come up with diff, stories/myths. Serve two purposes: 1) universal characteristic of human existence. 2) always places human in relation to other animals, and humans are ultimate product of that relation. A myth for example is god created everything. This concept existed beginning of this origin myth. Species as they exist today are the same as when they were created. What is the importance- places humans in a direct complexity between other organisms. 1st proposed by aristotle in 4thcentury bc. All animals arranged in a hierarchy that progressed from simplest to most complex. Humans at top of hierarchy: genus & species.
