Document Summary

Anthropocene: the geological epoch during which human behaviour became one of the earth"s major geomorphological and geological processes. Our success has come at a cost, increased population has been affecting our earth. Primarily come from burning fossil fuels, getting trapped within the atmosphere and it is heating the earth. Estimated by the summer of 2030, that all of the arctic sea ice will melt. When there is sea ice, it reflects the heat from the sun (about 80%) Without it, the heat will go into the ocean and it will cause the earth to heat. Will most likely cause the extinction of many main species (like polar bears) Sea ice reflects back into space about 80% of the sunlight that hits it. This will lead to the extinction of several species including polar bears who rely on sea ice for their survival. Others see melting sea ice as a financial opportunity - increased sea transport and drilling for oil.
