Document Summary

Primate origins - rise of the primates | lecture 8. Human diversity is seen as the result of microevolutionary forces - small changes in allele frequencies acting on the human gene pool. Appearance of new species due o many generational changes in allele frequencies. A single ancestral species gives rise to 2 or more descendant species. Two phylogenetically unrelated organism develop greater similarities similar environments. Arboreal climate, may look similar but will have harder time to adjust. Do not pass through similar stages during embryonic development. Determine ancestral versus derived (modified) homologous traits to determine lineage. Clade: a group of organism with a common ancestor. A species way of life considered in the context of its environments (haviland and crawford, When the environment changes drastically then what is successful in that previous environment will be changed and then that"s where you see the microspecies changes. Rapid diversification of an evolving population as it adapts to a variety of available niches.
