Basic concepts: terminotics: computer tools to help in the processes of terminology work, corpus analysis tools (e. g. concordancers, term extractors, terminology management tools. Definitions: concordancer: experts say , software that counts and lists the occurrences of a given term, together with its co-occurrents, in the text corpus compiled for vocabulary research. (pavel & nolet 2001) Types of concordancers: monolingual, e. g. le migou, textstat, bilingual, e. g. webitext, tradooit, linguee, transsearch. Using a concordancer in terminology work: reading, looking for candidate terms (scanning, identifying meanings and finding characteristics of concepts, evaluating relationships between concepts, between terms and concepts. Computer-assisted term extraction: candidate terms, methods (monolingual), linguistic, pos, pattern-based. Computer-assisted term extraction: statistical, frequency, corpus comparison, repeated segments, co-occurrence. Computer-assisted term extraction: hybrid, advantages and disadvantages of each approach. Term forms recorded: in base (canonical) form, singular nouns, masculine singular adjectives (fr, infinitive verbs (no to/bare infinitive in english, exceptions, feminization, plural as standard form, with capitals only if always capitalized.
