In 1789, during the french revolution, the king"s french was abandoned for that of the bourgeoisie/working class. the use of patois and dialects became synonymous with social regression, reminiscent of the deposed regime. Quebec did not follow suit. in 1960, the quiet revolution was looming and parisian french was adopted by our intellectuals. during those years, radio and television hosts and sports commentators had to follow this cours de diction . So, quebec was well on its way to correct french spreading throughout its population.
