Guru arjan complied book of writings called adi granth (sacred texts) Before the stories were told oral today: government in pakistan, india area views sikhism as political threat. Hargobind: 6th guru starts to militarize community so that they can resist other military opposition. A lot of people think of the 6th guru as more violent. Sikhs are warriors in the sense of protecting their territory and faith. Siks survive 70 more years, another emperor tries to force everyone in the empire to become muslim. Had 9th guru arrested and killed in 1675. All of this happens in less than 100 years. Amritsar becoming a problem from india which was just becoming apart of the british colony. 10,000 people protesting, police openly shooting them.
