Classical elite theory overview: society is ruled by elites and the state is the instrument by which the majority are ruled elites are the dominant force and the state is the instrument. There is a need for this type of structure, that it is something of natural order of how society operates. These are the ones we set up for rational distinction of society: in contrast to we(cid:271)e(cid:396)"s a(cid:374)al(cid:455)sis of bu(cid:396)eau(cid:272)(cid:396)a(cid:272)(cid:455) elite theory argues that a small number of individuals must rule the masses. Revolution & use of force: revolution as the result of an elite unwilling to use force to maintain power and stability: pay attention to the language that is used here, heavily driven around the notion of strength. How do we maintain stability and we need strength, this is his premise. Berberoglu, p. 44: poreto is engaged with authoritarian rule of force and mosca is not as direct with his language.
