Simmel-sociology is the study of forms of social interaction. Different forms of interactions that mediate/underscore political, economic, erotic, behavior. Many different and distinct phenomena can be best understood by reference to the same formal concept. Many diverse/different interests and purposes give rise to specific associations among men. The social forms of interation in whih these diverse interests and purposes are realized may be the same. Also the same interests can be realized through different forms. Pure forms are analytical constructs- ie they are never found in real life- ideal types. The raw material of sociability= the individual interests/needs/desires etc. These raw materials are not social per se but when they are transformed into forms of interactions, the are a factor of sociability. Sociability is the form in which individuals interact to satisfy their intersts. Forms gain a life of their own, free from specific contents and exists for its own sake. The pleasure of socializing/being sociable for its own sake.
