Relations and interactions btw people and groups. Most sociologies would say how society affects people. Different social institution, large social structures that satisfies are needs. From the latin socius (social, being with others) Systematic study of human society, social institutions and social interactions. Notice social patterns and keeps repeating and reproduced. Example: women pay more a haircut than a man. If you"re a young black man, your more likely to be pulled over than a white man. They investigate and challenge commonly held assumptions: when referring to a nurse, we assume it"s a woman, not a male. Nursing is seen as a female job, its seen as less important, it is seen as feminine activity. If a male goes into a female activity, we see something wrong with the male.
