Reminder of our de nition of sociology: the systematic study of human society and social interaction. Very broad, from the study of dyads (two person groups) to entire societies. Each other social science has its own distinct focus. Other academic disciplines are equally as interested in human behaviour and social life. Most of these disciplines belong to a much larger domain of knowledge (social sciences) most merged in the. While sociology focuses on the totality of group life - like the combination of all the social sciences. Philosophy - the mother of all sciences philia sophos- lover of wisdom. Not a social science but it is closely related to sociology. A quest or re ection into the meaning of life. Sociology studies these topics as well but sociology is above all concerned with gathering and con rming evidence whereas philosophy is about speculative inquiry. Same topics in mind but do not proceed the same way.
