Don"t use the textbook as a source for the take home assignment. Even in a society of saints, you will have deviance. Some people will pray 5 times a day, some 3 times a day, some all day. Society needs social control to regulate their wants and behaviors. Definition: a state or condition of normlessness. This is when we act deviant because the norms do not apply to us. If every crime was legal for 24 hours 95% of people would commit a crime. Results from rapid social change, like industrialization. Farmers would wake up with the sun, now we have lights- often we don"t even know what time it is during the day. In this room, we have no idea what time it is- there are no windows, it could be night or morning. The war, anytime there is a war it creates a situation of rapid social change. The relationship between islam and the united states after 9/11.
