Document Summary
Note: january 19 th 2016-january 22 nd 2016. What is it: a theory is a set of interrelated proposiions, constructed and iing together logically, which claims to explain one or more aspects of the world around us. Why is it important: explanaions can be described as the stories we tell each other in atempts to produce some order in our lives, theories outline paths that lead to paricular outcomes. They allow us to feel that we know why something happened, and whether, or not under what condiions, it is likely to occur again. Scope: the range of phenomena that a theory can explain. Accuracy: does the theory match empirical reality, ex. If theory a can prove something in 5 steps but theory b can prove it in 3 steps, theory. B is more correct because the theory uses less logical steps. Can the theory be falsiied: a theory within a theory.
