Faith: unquestioning belief that does not require proof or scientific evidence. Sacred: term used to describe aspects of life that are extraordinary or supernatural. Profane: everyday, secular or worldly aspects of life. Rituals: regularly repeated and carefully prescribed forms of behaviour that symbolizes a belief. Karl marx be: essential to society, found in society because it meets basic human needs and serves societal functions. Social control and support of government: central feature is presence of sacred beliefs that bring people together, example of an ideology: systematic view of the way the world ought to, max weber: Promotes strife between groups (blocks social change) People work harder because they believe it will get them to. Meanings that people give to religion in everyday life.
