They notices social patterns (e. g. women things are more expensive than men) They investigate and challenge commonly held assumptions. How religion, family and sexual orientation differs among cultures. Sociology betters our knowledge on society and how it functions. C. wright mills sociological imagination: ability to see the relationship between personal experiences and larger society. Homelessness, job loss etc are related to larger social trends and events (factories closing, stock market, economy) Implies an extensive social division of labour and a complex social organization implies the world history . Peter berger"s introduction to his invasion to sociology. None of the thinkers & philosophers really tried to analyze society the way it is, they tried to analyze an ideal society. Industrialization: dependence shifting from handmade products and agriculture to manufacturing and related industries. Urbanization: population moving from rural areas to cities.
