SCS 2150 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Backbencher
Document Summary
The term elite refers to an individual or group with access to the specialized information we need. You are investigating whether conservative candidates choose to run for the party because of its economic policies, or its moral agenda. Unstructured interviews stop at 2; unstructured interviews are hard to continue with flow unless you have practice. After these steps are complete (after class at home): - draft an interview framework. Remember: an interview framework is a set of interview questions to be asked of the respondent. Prompts: words that people like to hear within your interview framework (ex: saying uh huh" constantly is annoying) If asking detailed questions: bring a forum to explain what the question is about (ex: question on a political policy should have forum with summary on that policy) Broader case studies: a particular individual, program or event is studied in depth for a defined period of time: almost always include interviews.
