Document Summary
Epistemology- the theory of knowledge, especially with regard to its methods, validity, and scope. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion. Method-tools to apply, and collect data for research. Methodology- approach that tells us how to proceed in a research question. --all three connect, and are used together and are compatible. Sampling techniques: small or large samples, factors determine size of sample: [{quantitative research size of population: large sample}, inclusion criteria, resources, time and money] Qualitative vs. quantitative: interviews vs. surveys [length of time, develop a deeper understanding of a certain topic [small sample] Data saturation: themes are emerging and new data is coming up, therefore data is saturated and analysis may commence. Data analysis is sometimes performed at the same time as data collection, or not. [this is done at the same time so that you can see where you are missing information o r over focusing on certain areas]
