Decent americans were able to commit harmful acts (like nazis) Zimbardo was interested in power in social situations. /day role of guard (khaki uniforms, glasses) or prisoner. One guard wanted to be mean because that was what he perceived as the purpose of the experiment, which was to explore human behaviour. Guards then forced them to do ridiculous tasks.
