Moderate fear and some anxiety are adaptive. At one age can be normal, at another can be debilitating. Ex 18 months = terrifying separation anxiety (why we do the strange situation at this time ) Number and type will change, with a general decline over time. Can serve a function in normal development. Children with anxiety disorders do not worry more. Help children gain control and mastery of their environment. Many common childhood routines involve repetitive behaviours and doing things just right . Children develop habits to help give them a sense of control of the environment.
