Assessing a child for adhd: sometimes parents or teachers sense that there is some adhd symptomology, always want to look for strengths and challenges. If you have parents that are very resistant, it is very predictive for challenges that could come with regards to improvements down the road. The case of aiden (class discussion: providing parenting strategies, finding some sort of social support for parents, better working relationship between family and school, treating dad"s adhd would be important, putting him in an extracurricular activity (physical activity) Treating adhd: the usual target are for intervention, symptoms education, mainly medication, but what about the functional deficits, social problems, friendship problems, working memory problems, family problems. Pharmacological treatment: what are the pros and cons of medicating children for adhd symptoms? (class discussion) Family interventions: parent management training, family interventions for parents with children with adhd to improve compliance, manage non-compliant behaviour.
