Psychologists have participated in the development of a variety of techniques to detect deception. The polygraph technique is one of the most well known techniques to detect deception. Under which circumstances: the polygraph is used in canada but those who want to administer the test have to undergo 12 weeks of intensive training, the police often use it to help with their investigation (ex. Polygraph tests rely on measuring physiological responses to different types of questions (so need the instrument paired with an interview) The polygraph doesn"t detect lies per se, it detects changes in physiological states normally associated with lying. People that exhibit the greatest changes are more likely to be guilty than those who are innocent: the comparison question test. Includes irrelevant questions that are unrelated to the crime, relevant questions concerning the crime being investigated, and comparison questions concerning the person"s honestly and past history prior to the event being investigated.
