Exclusion: no drugs or not related to ptsd or panic disorder. These happen often, recurrently, but with reality testing still intact. The individual knows what happened but had a different experience to the norm. Thought to be cause because it was an effective way of dealing with trauma. Must cause significant distress or functional impairment. Dissociative amnesia: an inability to recall important autobiographical information, usually of a traumatic or stressful nature, that is in consistent with ordinary forgetting. Note: most often localized or selective; or generalized for identity and life history. Specifier dissociative fugue : apparently purposeful travel or bewildered wandering that is associated with amnesia for identity or for other important autobiographical information. Often anxious, depressed, or scared because they don"t know where they are. Can not remember information about the self linked with trauma and stress, inconsistent with ordinary forgetting. Not diagnosed as it is often comorbid with borderline personality disorder and ptsd.
