Enduring traits: ways of thinking, acting, feeling, genetic component. Dsm-5: persistent pattern of emotions, cognitions, and behaviour that results in enduring emotional distress for person affected and/or for others & may cause difficulties with work & relationships, beginning by early adulthood. Social norms are important in determining whether traits are problematic or non- problematic. Non-problematic: situational, occasional, when stressed (tired, hungry, upset, changes over times. Problematic: universal, frequent/always, extreme when stressed, enduring over time. Pervasive detachment from social relationships & restricted range of affect in interpersonal situations. Four or more of the following: lack of interest in developing close relationships, prefers solitary activities, little interest in sexual experiences, little pleasure in activities, lacks close friends, indifferent to praise/criticism, emotionally cold, detached, flattened affect. Must have 5+ of the following: ideas of reference (not delusional, odd beliefs/magical thinking that affects behaviour, unusual perceptual experiences, odd thinking/speech, suspiciousness/paranoid ideation, inappropriate/constricted affect, odd/eccentric behaviour/appearance, lack of close friends, excessive social anxiety usually (cid:498)paranoid(cid:499)
