What type of research design allows researchers to track a group of participants across time? longitudinal. The placebo effect occurs when people get better because they expect treatment to work. Locus of control and self-esteem are examples of causes of psychological disorders. During a diagnostic assessment, clinicians observe client"s moods, speech, behaviour, as part of a mental status exam. Cues are anything in the person that lead us to make a stereotype about them with a disorder: psychiatric symptoms. Mental health care much harder to acquire/more expensive. Overpathologizing: labeling a disorder without cues is totally possible. Allowed to look well when one is sick: simply, should not rely on cues for labeling someone with a disorder or not. 100 people with schizophrenia: 30 would seek treatment, 18 would adhere to treatment. 100 people with cancer: what if 30 people sought treatment and only 18 adhered to it, there would be much advocacy about this.
