There is a range of divergence on how people view personality. We will loo at the main kind of theory: trait theory- dispositional traits or just traits. If we describe someone we know we usually use adjectives outgoing,shy: trait stable enduring disposition that persists overtime and it persists in different context. It takes the main factors and devides it into a number of facets. Five factor model: neuroticism on the neo, anxiety level, hostility/irratiblit. Impulsiveness: vulnerability to stress(how you deal, being high on neo test says that you are more prone to anxiety, extraversion on the neo. Ideas and values they are easy to get along with: conscientiousness on the neo, orderliness, self-dicipline, organized, low score: laziness, late. The five factor model does not explain behaviour, missing essence of aperson by describing them this way. Costa and mccrae believe that traits become stable by the age of 30. There is a high degree of consistency overtime.
