Document Summary
Surveys: of adults: ask adults about their childhood sexuality. But, people may lie and are likely to forget their experiences from so long ago: asking teachers, parents, or daycare workers, etc. But respondents might lie - not socially acceptable to have a very sexual child. Secondary observation as opposed to the child"s actual experience. Children might act differently at school or daycare than they do at home. Interviews of children: huge ethical issues with children and consent, adolescent interviews are more common (more common with online studies now) Adolescents can give consent at 16 years old. Adolescent sexuality research is problem driven - ex. want to prevent childhood sexual abuse, decrease sti transmission, etc: don"t look at things like sexual desire, erotic preference, etc. Most people believe that people are only sexual beings from puberty (11-12) to menopause in women (52-55) and around 60-70 in men.
