Observed over 10000 cycles of the sexual response. Four stages of sexual response (through fantasy or physical stimulation): Resolution: phase where body goes back to the base line. Always goes through these stages in this order. Two basic physiological processes that occur during these stages: Genital will demonstrate an erection comes with vassel congestion (corpus cavernosum - there are two, and the sponge body - there is one) The brain sends blood to the genital area. Rest phase - open arteries and open veins. Muscles in the penis called smooth muscles - you cannot control like your heart. In order to be engorged with blood, one must be in a parasympathetic state - relaxed. Not responsible for sexual desire - but testosterone is.
