Alternative model of sexual response - ziberfeildt and allison. Meant to address deficit of pleasure and sexual desire. How frequently they want to engage in sex: psychological arousal. How turned on you feel: physiological readiness, orgasm, satisfaction. Made a clear link between satisfaction and desire. This model is useful for sex therapists. *be skeptical of data on childhood development, it is often skewed liberally and has small study sizes* Boys and girls are born with penile/clitoral errection. 1st year of life: pelvic thrusting, self-stimulation. May be a way to soothe themselves. Children move from self-stimulation to masturbation around 6-8 years old: differs in north america (11-13 years old, girls in north america (17-20 years old) Heterosexual activity and homosexual play: sex play. Isosexual sex play (homosexual) - fear of labelling kids homosexual. Sexual awareness: by age 3-4, overt curiosity about what people do in private. By age 5 there is a decrease in the overt curiosity: masturbation heightened awareness.
