Effects of stereotypes on behavior can be automatic and unconscious. + canadians are polite these are generalized. A negative attitude toward an individual based solely on the person"s membership is some group. When we see the person we activate the stereotype. When the emotion is negative it is called prejudice. Not liking someone because of what group they belong to. Includes an irrational hostility toward a particular group. Discrimination (behavioural) the behaviour we discriminate against. Differential treatment of individuals who belong to different groups. You treat people differently because they belong to a diff group. Generalized beliefs about members of a group (based on race, gender, religion, etc. )
